This Gargoyle was photographed at historic Oakland Cemetery in Atlanta Georgia. This shot imparticular was taken immediately below it zooming in for detail and prescence. There are multiple gargoyles on the victorian architectural style crypt that stand watch over the family that lay within. Gargoyles in architecture normaly were to displace water and many can be seen with water coming from their mouths during rain as they serve as a sort of gutter spout however they are also believed to ward off evil spirits and in the architecture of this structure they don't perform gutter services hence the title "Defender of Evil". This structure and the cemetery itself are simply fascinating examples of beauty in architecture. Hope you enjoy the photo :)
